Saints Perpetua and Felicity are venerated martyrs of the early Christian Church, known for their courageous faith during the Roman Empire's persecution of Christians in the early 3rd century. Perpetua, a noblewoman, documented her imprisonment in a personal diary, which is one of the earliest known works of Christian literature. Felicity, her slave and companion, was also arrested and shared in Perpetua's trials. Both women were ultimately executed in Carthage around 203 AD, steadfastly maintaining their faith despite brutal opposition. Their story symbolizes the strength of conviction and the bond of friendship in faith, inspiring countless Christians throughout history. They are celebrated on March 7 in the Roman calendar, revered as protectors of mothers and expectant mothers.
