Saint Agnes is a revered Christian saint and one of the early martyrs of the church, venerated for her purity and commitment to her faith despite severe persecution. She lived during the 3rd century in Rome and is often depicted as a young girl holding a lamb, symbolizing her innocence. According to tradition, Agnes made a vow of chastity but was desired by several men. When she refused their advances, she was reported to the authorities as a Christian and faced martyrdom at a very young age, typically believed to be around 12 or 13. Saint Agnes is the patron saint of young girls, chastity, rape survivors, and gardeners. Her feast day is celebrated on January 21st. Her legacy is one of courage and steadfastness in the face of adversity, making her a powerful symbol of purity and faith.
