Saint Anastasia, often called Anastasia the Pharmakolytria or "Deliverer from Potions," is a Christian saint and martyr who lived during the 3rd century. She was known for her healing abilities, particularly in curing the effects of poisons and potions, which is reflected in her title. According to tradition, Anastasia was born in Rome and became a follower of Christ at a young age. She dedicated her life to the Christian community, ministering to imprisoned Christians and using her knowledge of medicine to help those suffering from the effects of torture and imprisonment.
She was martyred during the persecutions of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, around 304 AD. Saint Anastasia is venerated in both the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches, and her feast day is celebrated on December 25th in the Orthodox Church and December 26th in the Roman Catholic Church. She is often depicted in religious art holding a medicine container, symbolizing her role in healing and protection against poison.
