Saint Genevieve, also known as Geneviève, is a prominent patron saint of Paris, celebrated for her role in the history and spiritual life of the city. Born around 422 AD in Nanterre, France, she decided at a young age to dedicate her life to Christianity, influenced by the visit of Saint Germain of Auxerre.

Genevieve is best known for her acts of piety, her dedication to prayer, and her role in protecting Paris through her intercessions and leadership. During the siege of Paris by the Huns in 451 AD, it is said that her prayers and leadership helped avert the attack led by Attila, thus saving the city. She was also instrumental in the construction of several churches, including one at the site where she had her visions, which later became the famous Church of Saints Peter and Paul, now known as Saint-Étienne-du-Mont.

Saint Genevieve's devotion to the welfare of her community, her prophetic visions, and her strength in times of crisis left a lasting impact on the city of Paris. After her death in 512 AD, her shrine became a major center of pilgrimage and devotion. Her feast day is celebrated on January 3rd.
