Saint Mauron (also known as Saint Maurontius) was a 7th-century French Benedictine monk and abbot. Born into a noble family in the region of the Meuse River in France, Mauron chose a life of piety and service to God from an early age. He became a disciple of Saint Columbanus, a prominent Irish missionary monk, and followed him to the Abbey of Luxeuil, one of the most influential monasteries of that time.

Later, Mauron was appointed as the abbot of the Monastery of St. Peter in Fosses, Belgium. Known for his humility, dedication, and wisdom, he greatly contributed to the monastic community's spiritual and organizational growth. His leadership was marked by a commitment to the Benedictine rule of life, emphasizing prayer, work, and community living.

Saint Mauron passed away around 706 AD, and his feast day is celebrated on May 9. He is remembered for his exemplary monastic life and his role in spreading the Benedictine tradition in Western Europe.
