Saint Patrick is one of Ireland's patron saints, known for spreading Christianity across Ireland in the 5th century. Born in Britain around 385 AD, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders at the age of sixteen and taken as a slave to Ireland. He worked as a shepherd for six years before escaping and returning to his family. After becoming a cleric, Patrick felt called to return to Ireland to convert the pagans to Christianity. His efforts to establish monasteries, schools, and churches played a significant role in Christianizing the country. Saint Patrick is also associated with explaining the Holy Trinity using the three leaves of a native Irish clover, the shamrock, and is celebrated worldwide on Saint Patrick's Day, March 17th, the supposed date of his death.
