Sts. Joachim and Anne are honored as the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the grandparents of Jesus. Though not mentioned in Scripture, their story is preserved through early Christian writings and tradition. Their daughter Mary was seen as a miraculous gift, and they raised her in holiness, preparing her for her unique role in salvation history.

They are patron saints of parents and grandparents, and their joint feast day is celebrated on July 26.
